Connected accounts
Connected accounts
A connected account is a third-party account a user chooses to connect to your app, such as a mailbox or a calendar. Harny reads what arrives, keeps what matters with its date, and scopes it to that user. Your agent then knows what changed without the user retyping it. An account can be disconnected at any time.
What connected accounts are
Each user decides what to connect. Nothing is connected for them. Harny reads the account, keeps what matters with its date, and files it under that user's memory.
One user's connected data never reaches another user. If Nadia connects her mailbox, your agent can use it for Nadia and for no one else. Connecting an account does not let your agent act on it. Acting needs a separate permission, described below.
What you can connect
| Source | What Harny reads |
|---|---|
| Gmail | Mail that arrives in the user's mailbox |
| Google Calendar | Events on the user's calendar |
| Google Drive | Files in the user's Drive |
| Forwarded email | Messages the user forwards to Harny |
Reading and acting are separate
- Reading uses a read-only permission the user grants.
- Acting on an account, such as sending a message or creating or deleting a calendar event, needs a separate write permission the user grants and an action you enabled for your app.
- Your agent's permissions in Actions › Automation › Permissions apply on top of both.
- Every action on a connected account is on the record in Actions › Activity.
- To disconnect an account, open Dashboard in the console, find the source under Connected sources and select Disconnect. This revokes the stored access and stops further actions on that account immediately.
Getting there
- Decide which sources your app needs.
- Set each kind of action in Actions › Automation › Permissions to Act without asking, Ask the user first or Never allowed. A kind with no setting is not carried out.
- Let your users connect their accounts. Each user grants read-only permission; write permission is granted only where your agent acts.
Frequently asked questions
01Can a user disconnect an account?
Yes, at any time. In the console, open Dashboard, find the source under Connected sources and select Disconnect. Further actions on that account stop immediately.
02Does the agent send email by itself?
Only if you set that kind to Act without asking and the user granted write permission. Otherwise it asks first or does not act.
03What happens to memories when an account is disconnected?
Actions stop at once. Removing a source's data removes the memories that rest only on that source.
04Does it cost extra?
Harny meters monthly-active end users, not connections. The plans are on the pricing page.
