Memory consolidation
Memory consolidation is the process of merging and replacing stored memories as new facts arrive, so the store keeps the current value instead of a pile of duplicates.
What memory consolidation is
An AI agent's memory grows as it learns things about a person or a task. Consolidation cleans that store up. When a new fact arrives that updates an older one, the older entry is merged into or replaced by the new one.
The result is a smaller, more current memory that the agent can search without picking between conflicting entries.
Why it matters
- Without it, old and new values sit side by side and the agent can repeat outdated facts.
How it works in Harny
- Harny memory is dated. When a changed value arrives with a newer timestamp, it becomes the current value.
- The earlier value stays answerable by date.
Does consolidation delete old facts?
In Harny, a changed value with a newer timestamp becomes the current value, and the earlier value stays answerable by its date.
