Situation awareness
Situation awareness is an agent's ability to notice that what it remembers about a person or task may no longer be true. It lets the agent act on the current picture instead of an outdated one.
What situation awareness is
For an AI agent, situation awareness means tracking the current state of the world around a person. The agent checks whether a remembered fact has been overtaken by something newer. It also notices when two statements cannot both be true.
Without it, an agent repeats facts that have already ended. It may also act on a plan the person has since changed.
Why it matters and why it is hard
- A fact can end without any new record that says so.
- Two statements from different days can conflict, and the agent must not guess which one wins.
- Flagging too much makes the agent noisy and slows answers.
How it works in Harny
- On paid plans, a setting marks a remembered fact the person has since said no longer holds, or two statements that cannot both be true.
- The marking is advisory by default. Free apps see the control disabled.
