Memory for accounting firms

This page is for accounting firms that track clients, engagement letters, deadlines and documents across many email threads. Harny gives each client contact a private memory your app's AI can read. Memory is dated, and each recalled memory lists the sources it came from, such as the email or note behind it.

What you are building

You are building an assistant that helps your staff answer client questions about who requested what and which deadline applies. Each client contact or client company is one user. Each recalled memory comes with its sources, so your staff can see the email or note behind an answer.

Why memory decides whether it works

  • Dated facts keep answers current. A filing deadline or fee agreement changes over time. A changed value with a newer timestamp becomes the current value, and the earlier value stays answerable by date.
  • Sources keep answers checkable. Every recalled memory lists its sources, with source id, date and label. Your staff can open the original email or note.
  • Scope keeps clients separate. Each person's memory is separate from every other person's memory.

What Harny provides

  • A Memory API at https://api.harny.ai/v1/memory for writing and reading each client's memory from your server.
  • Dated memory, so a changed value with a newer timestamp becomes the current value.
  • As-of recall with queryTimestamp, so you can ask what was true on a given date.
  • Deletion by source or by person, so you can remove a superseded document or erase a client's data on request.

Jobs an agent can do here

  • Recall which documents a client was asked for, from the emails and notes you sent in, with the source of each.
  • Answer what the current filing deadline is for a client, with the source that set it.
  • Show the engagement scope and fee agreement as of a chosen date.
  • Pull the dated history of an open request so a staff member can write the reminder to the client contact.

Getting there

  1. Create an app with the Memory API and keep the app key (fsa_) on your server, never in a browser.
  2. For each client contact or company, use one user id, and send its emails and notes with POST /v1/memory/ingest, setting timestamp to when each item happened.
  3. Recall with POST /v1/memory/recall, passing the client's identity and a query, and show the sources returned with each answer.
  4. Check that ingestion has completed with GET /v1/memory/ingest/{ingestionId} before you rely on new items.

Frequently asked questions

Does Harny give accounting advice?

No. Harny does not give professional advice. It stores and recalls the dated notes and emails your app gives it, and your staff decide what to do with them.

Does using Harny make my firm compliant?

No. Harny does not by itself make an app compliant with any rule that applies to accounting work.

How do I know where an answer came from?

Each recalled memory lists its sources, with the source id, its date and its label. Open that email or note to check the answer.
