Audit trail
An audit trail is a dated record of what happened in a system and who or what caused it. For AI agents, it shows which actions ran, when, and with what result.
What audit trail is
An audit trail is a time-ordered log that answers three questions: what happened, when it happened, and who or what did it. Each entry is kept so it can be checked later.
For agents, the trail covers the actions an agent took, not only the answers it gave.
Why audit trail matters
- It lets you review what an agent did after the fact.
- It helps you trace a wrong action back to its cause.
- It gives you a record to export and share with your own team.
How audit trail works in Harny
- Every agent action is recorded. An action record has a target, a status and a time. You list records with
GET /v1/actionsand export them withGET /v1/actions/export. - Each memory names its sources, so you can see where a remembered fact came from.
Does an audit trail record what the agent said?
Not by itself. It records actions, each with a target, a status and a time. In Harny, each memory also names the sources it came from.
