Event time
Event time is the moment something actually happened. It is separate from the moment a system recorded it.
What event time is
Event time is when a fact or action took place in the real world. Ingestion time is when your system stored it. The two can differ.
A memory stored today can describe a meeting from last week or a decision from last year. Dating each memory by event time keeps the record accurate.
Why it matters
- Recall can answer what was true on a given date.
- Newer facts can supersede older ones by date.
How it works in Harny
- Harny's
timestampfield is event time, in ISO 8601 with a zone. - Recall takes
queryTimestampas an as-of filter and drops results that happened later.
Is event time the same as when I saved the memory?
No. Event time is when something happened. You set it with the timestamp field when you send a memory, and queryTimestamp on recall drops results that happened later.
