Grounding
Grounding means tying an answer to evidence. A grounded answer can point to the sources that support it.
What grounding is
Grounding is the practice of making an AI answer rest on specific source material. The model draws on data it can point to, rather than on guesses from its training.
A grounded answer can be checked. The reader can see which document, record or memory the claim came from.
Why it matters
- It lets people verify what an agent says before they act on it.
- It makes wrong answers easier to trace to their source.
- It is hard when sources are missing, stale or conflicting.
How it works in Harny
- Recall returns sources with each memory. The answer can name them.
- Each result lists its source id, label and time, so the answer can say where a fact came from.
Does grounding stop an agent from making mistakes?
No. Grounding makes an answer checkable against its sources. It does not guarantee the sources are right.
