Permission mode
Permission mode is the setting that decides what an AI agent may do on its own for a kind of action. It sets whether the agent acts without asking, asks the user first, or is never allowed to act.
What permission mode is
An AI agent can take actions, such as sending an email, creating an event, or posting a message. A permission mode is the rule that controls each kind of action. It answers one question: does the agent need approval first?
The three common modes are act without asking, ask the user first, and never allowed.
Why it matters
- Some actions cannot be undone, such as
email.send, so the rule has to be set before the agent runs. - Different action kinds carry different risk, so each kind needs its own setting.
- A strict rule should win when two kinds overlap.
How it works in Harny
- Each action kind has one setting in Harny: Act without asking, Ask the user first, or Never allowed. The setting applies to the whole app.
- When kinds overlap, Harny follows the strictest setting. You set these in the console under Actions, Automation, Permissions.
Can one user have a different permission mode from another?
Harny settings are app-wide. Each kind of action has one setting for the app.
