Session memory

Session memory is the information an AI agent holds inside one conversation, such as earlier turns and what the person just said.

What session memory is

Session memory covers one conversation from start to finish. The agent reads it to follow the thread and avoid asking the same thing twice.

Why it is hard to rely on

  • It ends when the session ends, so the next conversation starts empty.
  • It lives in the context window, which has a limit.
  • Facts a person shared last week are not in it.

How it works in Harny

  • Keep session memory in your framework.
  • Use Harny for what must outlive the session.

Does session memory last between conversations?

No. It holds what is said inside one conversation. Anything that must outlive the session belongs in long-term memory.
